Don Shooter – AZ State Senate

With the challenges our state faces we need to elect quality conservatives to office and this race for State Senate is a very important contest for the conservative movement. I’ve worked hard in my first term of office, cutting spending, getting our budget in balance, passing a Jobs Bill, and looking out for our district’s interests, like agriculture and our military bases. And as a freshman legislator, I was named Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, an almost unheard of promotion.

So how have I done? Well I’ve been awarded the “Friend of the Family award and was named “Hero of the Taxpayer . Looking out for Arizona and protecting taxpayers and families? If that is what you are looking for, I ask you for your support and your vote in the Republican Primary on August 28th!
Don Shooter has been a farmer and developer in the Yuma area since 1981. During that time, independently and working with others, he has developed over 2000 acres of farmland, commercial hotels and shopping centers, and golf course communities.

He has been married to his wife, Susan, for 36 years. They have 3 grown children and 5 wonderful grandchildren. He attended the University of Southern California (U.S.C.) on a full academic scholarship, where he majored in history and business.

In 2010 Don answered the call to public service and ran for office against a longtime Democrat incumbent. In spite of being a write in candidate in the primary, his strong community support and conservative values won the day and he was elected to the State Senate. Prior to his run, he was the chairman of the Yuma Tea Party and advocated for limited government, the free enterprise system, and individual freedoms as defined in the U.S. Constitution.

In just his first term his commitment to a balanced budget and fiscal sanity earned him a promotion to Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee where he helped write and pass Arizona’s balanced budget that begins to restore our Rainy Day Fund and education spending levels, all without any tax increases. He has been awarded both the “Friend of the Family” award and the “Hero of the Taxpayer” award.

Thank you.
